Eight Basic Strokes of Chinese Characters
Chinese characters are written in a shape of square and built up from strokes. In order to write Chinese symbols, you need to know the basic strokes of characters. There are eight basic strokes. They are the horizontal stroke, the vertical stroke, the left-falling stroke (or called as throw stroke), the right-falling stroke, the dot, the rising stroke, the turning stroke and the hook.
